Zirenz, are currently based in Carmarthenshire South Wales they kicked off their career together winning an Honourable Mention Award from the world renowned John Lennon Song writing competition USA in 2003. Over the last decade as Trance producers and vocalists Zirenz have hit #no.1 and Top #10 successes in the iTunes, Deezer and Beatport Charts with their vocal trance singles and album releases. Zirenz music has been influenced by a plethora of composers from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini , Gustav Holst, Ennio Morricone , John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman along with the dance influences of Armin Van Buuren and electronic pop Max Martin, Pet shop boys, Krftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre and the legendary Vangelis have all made a great impact on the music of Zirenz. In 2021 their track “Edge of Space” was part of Trance music history when included in A State Of Trance All Time TOP #1000 list by the five-time Ranked World no.#1 DJ Armin van Buuren.
As Radio DJ’s Zirenz for several years hosted the Afterworld Sessions Radio show focussing on the best of Trance music which broadcast weekly on Romanian Radio Cluj Public broadcasting station, covering several counties in Transylvania, on 909, 1404 and 1593 (AM). In Cluj-Napoca 95,6 FM, Sibiu 95,4 FM & Satu-Mare 87.9 FM. and syndicated to several award winning online digital radio stations broadcasting from UK, USA, France, Holland, Greece, Ireland and Mexico to thousands of listeners each week.
Cat Llewleyn of Zirenz was a member of the Youth choir of Wales & Youth Orchestra of Wales performing on Welsh TV and Radio. Cat did an Art foundation at WGIHE and gained a Masters degree in Computer Science at Swansea University. As a vocalist she went on to study privately in London with Bex Hazard and the theatrical and pop vocal coach Mary Hammond. Cat has performed at London fringe theatres the Bridewell and Rudolf-Steiner theatre the rolls of, Janet -The Rocky Horror Show and Calamity – Calamity Jane and has been lead vocalist for Zirenz Duo performing live shows at Her Majesties Theatre London, La Scala London and Birmingham Air Super Club. With her knowledge of computer programming Cat then developed her skills extensively in music vocal production working in particular with melodyne studio and DJ mixing with Abelton studio. Cat also plays flute passing Royal Schools of Music Grade (5) and most recently began learning to play Celtic lever Harp.
Bex Hazard of Zirenz started her music journey at the age of 10 composing her first choral piece for her school choir for a BBC carol competition. Bex continued song writing playing guitar and piano and went on to winning an opportunity to record and perform at BBC Pebble Mill Studios Birmingham. Her vocal training began when she joined the Award Winning Cantamus Girls Choir under the direction of Pamela Cook MBE, she then gained an entrance scholarship to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music London for several years graduating with Hons in Voice and OPERA Performance. While at the RAM Bex studied with world class Opera singers Yvonne Minton CBE , ENO Voice Consultant Josephine Veasey CBE and the Italian Soprano and Opera producer Graziella Sciutti. Also Bex worked with Opera producers, directors and conductors John Copley CBE, Ian Ledingham, James Lockhart and Michael Rosewell. Then after graduating from the RAM she studied privately with both the world renowned Opera singer Dame Felicity Palmer and theatrical and pop vocal coach Mary Hammond exploring her vocal techniques and repertoire. Bex also won several scholarships and awards for Singing while at the Royal Academy of Music the Early Music Prize, the Arthur Burcher Memorial Prize, the Grisi and Mario Prize for singers the Alfred Alexander Award & Paton Award and the John Ogden Scholarship from Mansfield Arts Council. Her Operatic solo roles have included: Ino – Semele (Handle), Lapák the Dog – The Cunning little Vixen (Janacek), Hippolyta – A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten) and, La Zia Principessa – Sour Angelica (Puccini). Bex has also performed as Alto soloist for the sacred works (Handel) Messiah, (Handel) Dixit Dominus, (Bach) St John Passion and (Mendelssohn) Elijah.
Spanning over 25 years Bex Hazard has been a Vocal coach and Vocal consultant to artists signed to A&M Records, Silva Screen Records, Mercury Records, EMI and many Independent labels throughout London, Including Mark Hill Music The Artful Dodger, where she coached Solo artists backing singers who performed with International artists Corinne Bailey Rae and Craig David. Bex also coached singers from the Miss Saigon School and theatre arts schools Body Work Company in Cambridge, and the Mary Ward Centre London. Privately Bex coached professional singers for Disney Studios and TV Shows the X-Factor and Brittan’s Got Talent. Bex also founded and musically directed the Guardian Angels Choir for The Guardian PLC Newspaper and worked with the former editor-in-chief of the Guardian Alan Rusbridger as her accompanist.
In 2013 Bex Hazard signed a Worldwide distribution deal with Believe Digital for her Afterworld Recordings Label. Then in 2016 both Llewelyn & Hazard Zirenz signed a Publishing Plus Sync deal with Simon Platz and his Award Winning Bucks Music Group ltd and Absolute Rights Management London. Then over several years Bex Hazard developed her music production skills working with DAW’s Logic pro and Logic X and iZotope Ozone mastering suit.
Now Zirenz are working extensively in the Studio and Stage on their “pOpera project” a project that brings together all of Zirenz music diversity and Knowledge which they have acquired and developed over the last 25 years. With their Classical music training, their music production skills, DJ editing and mixing skills with their love and understanding of Singing, playing and DJing many different styles and genres of music including Classical Opera, Music theatre, Trance, EDM and Pop Zirenz have been able to develop a way to modernize re-imagine the music of Classical Classics by crafting new fresh arrangements with some additional composition and lyrical or libretto content.
In 2020 Zirenz began to release singles on their in house label Afterworld Recordings distributed worldwide by believe digital these include, “Un Bel Di” from Madame Butterfly, “Gloria” Vivaldi Gloria Mass featuring Opera singer Aled Hall, “Lascia Chio Pianga” from Rinaldo, “Didos Lament” from Dido and Aeneas.
From 2023 Zirenz began their LIVE Shows “pOpera Zirenz In Concert” and “pOpera by Candlelight Zirenz In Concert” and Zirenz created 4 part Choral arrangements for the Award Winning Cantamus Girls Choir so that they could join them as backing choir for the 2023 shows. With growing demand for the pOpera project Zirenz are constantly adding dates to their LIVE shows and Workshops so you can see them in Theatres, Cathedrals, Churches across Wales, England, Europe and Africa.
The development of the pOpera project is ongoing and Zirenz have plans to work on several full OPERAs as well as continuing to add well know Classical works to their pOpera project Catalogue.
